We were appointed by Equans to install Rehau PVC-U windows and new composite front doors in more than 200 social housing properties in Wisbech, as part of one of the UK’s largest SDHF funded retrofit projects to date. Partnering with Equans and using the knowledge and experience acquired as part of our PAS2030 accreditation, we had already completed successful pilot installations in some of the housing association’s least efficient homes in 2021.
We installed Rehau Total 70 windows with a U-Value of 1.00, with airtight seals all the way around to minimise heat loss. Although the new windows were a replacement for earlier PVC frames, we had to relocate them within the apertures and install additional supports to accommodate the depth of the external wall insulation being applied. Internally, that meant we also had to fit new window boards and trimming within the deeper reveals.
Alongside the new windows and doors and external wall insulation, the properties were also upgraded with loft and cavity wall insulation and energy efficient air-source heat pumps. Together, these improvements will deliver significant reductions in heating costs for tenants.
