We’ve just received our Certificate of Accreditation as Members of the Good Business Charter. Alongside the likes of Richer Sounds, Brompton Bicycles and Deloitte, back in March we were one of the first businesses in the UK to sign up to this brand-new CBI and TUC-backed initiative created to encourage better business practice.
Little did we know then just how important it would potentially turn out to be. Accreditation is awarded only to companies that can prove they treat their staff, customers and suppliers well. That means paying the real living wage, delivering consistently responsive service and, even during the current crisis, paying suppliers on time.
Even more than that though, anyone who joins must sign up to 10 key criteria on things like employee representation and well-being, ethical sourcing and paying fair tax.
There’s been lots of talk amongst politicians and business leaders recently about ‘building back better’ and working towards a sustainable recovery after the pandemic which levels up some of the unfairness in the modern economy which has only been exaggerated by the impact of Coronavirus.
For us, the Good Business Charter, with its emphasis on business purpose and conscious capitalism, seems a good place to start. If any of our suppliers, customers or even competitors would like to sign up and join us, all of the details are here: https://www.goodbusinesscharter.com/
