We couldn’t be prouder to announce that our very own Katie Thornton, Director of Compliance and Administration, has been named on a shortlist of ‘Rising Stars’ at this year’s G-22 Glass and Glazing Awards.
Ten years ago, Katie joined us a complete newcomer to the industry and since then our turnover has more than trebled and she has played a key role in our transformation from small local installer to major regional player.
She has reshaped everything – from how we book our surveys to how we deliver training and communicate with clients, and her mission has always been to ensure that the systems and processes we have in place optimise our efficiency – rather than relying on individual members of staff to take the lead. The secret of Katie’s success is that her systems give everyone here the framework and support they need to do a great job – regardless of their level of experience.
Amongst her many achievements are our 10,000+ SQL/Access resident database which means we can track every single property where work is planned, ongoing or completed and our new bespoke app which lets fitting teams provide live updates to the database from site. She is also responsible for our £100,000 a year staff training programme and achieving and maintaining our impressive raft of third-party memberships and accreditations
We can’t overstate Katie’s influence within our business, but she is also an emerging and inspirational female leader in the wider industry – currently Co-Chair of the Glass & Glazing Federation’s Windows and Doors Group and Chair of the Fenestration Trailblazer Group that is responsible for delivering and reviewing new industry wide apprenticeship schemes for window and door fabrication, window and door installation and curtain walling installation.
She’s up against some impressive industry names in the Rising Stars category from the likes of Listers, Emplas and Business Pilot, but it would certainly be very well deserved if Katie was announced as the winner when the Awards take place at the Intercontinental on Park Lane on Friday 25th November.
