One Worth Winning

One Worth Winning

We’ve just been recognised with a Silver Award in RoSPA’s coveted Health and Safety Awards. It was the first time we’d entered what is widely acknowledged to be the toughest health and safety programme in the UK, so we were genuinely thrilled to come away with a Silver.

As with all Awards, the ones worth winning take a lot of effort and Katie, our Director of Compliance and Administration, spent a good week during lockdown collating and submitting our entry.

For us, our Health and Safety performance is integral to our operation. Not only do we have a fundamental duty to every single member of our workforce and every single customer to keep them safe, it is ultimately also good for business.

Eliminating Snagging with Investments in Surveying

Eliminating Snagging with Investments in Surveying

The Window Company (Contracts) made further investments in its surveying team before lockdown, an acknowledgement, it says, that it is the quality of the survey which is ultimately key to the satisfaction of residents who are having their windows and doors replaced.

The Chelmsford based company, which works on behalf of main contractors and social housing providers across London and the South East, says that accurate data from surveys eliminates errors and mis-measures and means that snagging visits can be significantly reduced.

David Thornton, Chair of The Window Company (Contracts) says: “Reducing or even eliminating snagging obviously has huge benefits for the resident, the client and of course us as the contractor. As well as improving overall satisfaction levels, it makes us more efficient and in turn more competitive.

Reassuringly Safe

Reassuringly Safe

Hopefully, all of our customers will by now have seen our video showing how we prepared our workplace and our workforce to get back to work safely at the end of lockdown. The feedback we’ve had has been great and it’s been widely viewed already.

We’ve reconfigured our warehouse space so that it complies with the social distancing requirements and, in our office, we’re now working safely behind screens.

For our teams working out on new build sites, we’ve invested in training and additional PPE and, for those surveying or installing in people’s homes, we’ve gone a step further with a package of reassurance for homeowners and residents designed to make them feel safe and comfortable.

Upgrading Window Installations With Uprated Trickle Vents

Ahead of the ongoing consultation around changes to Part F of the Building Regs in England and Wales governing ventilation, The Window Company (Contracts) has begun upgrading its installations with uprated trickle vent solutions.

Record Year Gives The Window Company (Contracts) Confidence For The Challenge Ahead

As the window and door sector went into Coronavirus lockdown, award winning commercial installer The Window Company (Contracts) had just recorded its best year ever.

With turnover approaching £8m and profits well above the market average, it was looking ahead to further expansion and continuing growth in the new build sector in particular, installing aluminium as well as PVC-U windows and doors.

Now, as the government gives a cautious go ahead for manufacturing and construction to restart, Chairman David Thornton says that the company is ready to pick up where it left off.

Welcome Pop Ups From The Window Company (Contracts)

Welcome Pop Ups From The Window Company (Contracts)

A new ‘phone popping’ solution, similar to the type used by doctors, schools and top restaurants to enable them to accurately identify patients, parents and even diners when they call, is enabling The Window Company (Contracts) to deliver an even better service to clients in the social housing sector.

When a resident contacts the company at its HQ in Chelmsford, Essex, the person answering the phone can not only greet them by name, but also instantly see their address and exactly what work is required at their property. This gives the resident a new level of reassurance that they are dealing with a professional and efficient operation and makes the process of booking in appointments and surveys quicker and more efficient.

Encouraging Better Business Practice

Encouraging Better Business Practice

Leading commercial installer, The Window Company (Contracts), is one of the first businesses to sign up to the brand new ‘Good Business Charter’, which has been launched to encourage better business practice in the UK.

Backed by both the CBI and the TUC, the new Charter is the brainchild of Richer Sounds boss and ethical entrepreneur Julian Richer and will accredit only those companies that can prove they treat their staff, customers and suppliers well.

For The Window Company (Contracts), it is the perfect fit. Chairman David Thornton explained: “We have built a successful business on the very principles which underpin this new charter – from paying a real living wage to our staff, to paying our suppliers promptly.
